In Quebec, the buyer pays a tax to the municipality at the time of the transaction — the so-called «welcome tax». It's calculated in brackets, on the higher of the purchase price or the standardized municipal value. This tool uses the 2026 brackets and applies the Montreal surcharge if you select it.
